Timeless Faith + Timely Mission

At FBC Springfield we believe God doesn't just have a mission for his church; God has a church for his mission.

So, we seek to pursue the mission of God locally and globally in diverse and frequently changing ways.

Local Missions

The local missions efforts of FBC Springfield are coordinated through the church's Mission's Council.  The Mission's Council is constantly looking for new ways to share and show God's love to others.  A prayer team undergirds the efforts of the Mission's Council that can be loosely broken into the following categories:

Community Missions:  FBC Springfield partners with a variety of organizations to seek the holistic development of our local community.  We partner with Assist Pregnancy Center, Second Story, Good News Jail and Prison Ministry, Boy's Probation House, Ecumenical Council for Helping Others (ECHO), Shepherd's Center, Fairfax County Medical Reserve Corps, Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services, Fairfax County Volunteer Solutions, and more.  We are frequently examining new possible partnerships and are excited to serve our community in partnership with so many other quality organizations.

Local Schools:  2+2 = 4 whether you learn that at home, in a private school, or in a public school.  At FBC Springfield we seek to support educators and students in all settings. We have partnered with teachers to set-up classrooms for the new school year, and provided backpacks and school supplies, Christmas presents, and so much more.  Whether you are a single, young adult or a great-grandparent there is still a way for you to be involved in serving and impacting our local schools.

Food Ministries:  FBC Springfield has provided meal kits for food insecure children on long weekends and holiday breaks.  We have had a baby formula ministry through several local need-based organizations.

Global Missions

Learning:  FBC Springfield is committed to teaching people about God's global work.  This happens formally through WMU and through RA's/GA's/Mission Friends for our children.  This also happens informally through having special Sundays that emphasize missions with occasional guest speakers.  Encouraging our language fellowships to share what is happening in their ministries and in the countries they are from also provides unique and personal educational opportunities regarding global missions.

Going: Life is a mission trip.  Take it.  But, in addition to seeing daily life as part of God's mission for each person, FBC Springfield encourages people to get a better understanding of God's global work by participating in vision trips, work projects, and mission experiences.  It is amazing what God teaches you and does through you when you go!

Giving: FBC Springfield has a strong history of generously supporting missions, ministries, and missionaries across the nation and around the globe.  This includes annual designated offerings to support the International Mission Board, the North American Mission Board, Virginia Missions, and Global Hunger Relief.  In addition to these large cooperative designated offerings, we also are routinely collecting goods or funds to support other missions causes.  FBC Springfield also gives to the Cooperative Program to support global missions.
