The book of Joshua chronicles God’s continuing faithfulness to fulfill His covenant promises to Abraham. It is a book of transitions, in which Joshua rises to leadership and the people of God step across the Jordan into the long-awaited land of promise. The task of possessing the land will test the limits of their strength and their courage, but God’s covenant will not fail them.
