First Baptist Church of Springfield (FBCS) is a multigenerational and multicultural Southern Baptist church in the heart of Northern Virginia, seeking God's next shepherd to lead us into the next season of ministry. For more than sixty years, God has used FBCS to proclaim the gospel, make disciples, and serve both our local community and the nations. Biblical Qualifications
1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5:-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4
Theological Beliefs
- FBCS relies solely on the inerrant and infallible Word of God, which leads us to be doctrinally conservative, supporters of life, and most importantly, committed to spreading the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
- Alignment with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 is necessary.
Primary Responsibilities
- Preaching and teaching
- Theologically faithful to the Bible/Expositional preaching
- Sermon preparation
- Pulpit ministry
- Primary preacher who oversees Sunday morning worship service
- Oversee other teaching opportunities (including Sunday evening activities, special events)
Shepherding the congregation
- Build meaningful relationships across all ages
- Be present and engaged in church life
- Model relational leadership
- Provide leadership in church membership and discipline
Pastoral care and spiritual development
- Equip and encourage members to grow in their walk with Christ through discipleship, teaching, and mentoring
- Support and strengthen Sunday school, small groups, and midweek ministries
Leadership and administration
- Lead church staff
- Provide spiritual leadership to deacons, volunteers, and ministry teams
- Provide oversight to ensure healthy church operations
Evangelism and Community Engagement
- Encourage a culture of evangelism, community engagement, and missions
- Lead the church in developing relationships with the lost and unchurched
- Support and participate in mission and outreach events

Director of Student Ministry
Ministry Vision
First Baptist Church of Springfield envisions a thriving youth ministry to serve the spiritual, social, and practical needs of middle and high school students. We believe this ministry will reach new students and will minister to students already connected to the life of the church. To this end, the Director of Student Ministry will provide comprehensive leadership for student-centered Christian fellowship, education, discipleship, and outreach.
Student Ministry Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Create an atmosphere of concern for the well being and salvation of youth in the church and in the community.
- Seek to build a relationship with each student.
- Implement ministries for outreach and evangelism that focus on students.
- Enrich the individual and corporate worship life of students.
- Discover, cultivate, and provide opportunities for students to use their spiritual gifts.
- Provide opportunities for Christian growth and discipleship for students.
- Build Christian fellowship, individual relationships, and unity among students.
- Communicate and promote the goals, plans, and activities of the student ministry to the congregation.
- Foster relationships between students, parents, and other generations and groups within the congregation.
- Serve as a resource person for parents, other ministries, and the congregation concerning student needs and issues.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a student ministry budget.
- Train and develop student leader volunteers.

Facilities Manager
20-35 hours per week, $25-$40 per hour commensurate with experience
First Baptist Springfield is looking for someone to help keep our campus in tip top shape. This part-time position requires a minimum of 20 hours per week, paying $25-$40 per hour. Schedule flexibility is desirable. Tasks include basic property maintenance and interactions with contractors for various maintenance and repair tasks. Candidates with experience in property management or trade-related work (plumbing, electrical, HVAC) will be considered for a higher base hourly rate. Candidates with experience in staff management, and program management (planning, budgeting, contracting) may be considered for a staff director position
